Attorney Laura Kay Wilson graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1994. During law school, she served as the Managing Editor of the Connecticut Journal of International Law and the Board of the Moot Court.
In her first year of law school, she earned the American Jurisprudence Award for the highest grade in federal civil procedure.
Attorney Wilson has served as counsel to corporate clients on compliance with state, local, and federal laws in the areas of employment law and fair labor standards (FMLA, ADAA/Rehab Act, FLSA, ADEA, USERRA, Title VII). She designed and delivered a training program on diversity and inclusion, advanced communication skills, de-escalation of conflict techniques, and in-house community building for the Postal Service and has designed in-house leadership programs.
Experienced
Attorney Wilson is an experienced trial attorney and tends to concentrate on civil rights and employment law. She is also experienced with intellectual property infringement prosecution and asset recovery for individuals whose assets have been seized or detained by the federal or local government.
Attorney Wilson is certified to practice in the following courts: Connecticut Courts, Federal District Court, District of Connecticut, Second Circuit Federal Appellate Court.
She defended Fortune 500 companies involved in civil litigation, including premises liability claims, employment law claims, and commercial litigation. She managed a litigation team of five attorneys by providing mentoring, coaching, oversight of all litigation and discovery strategy.
Attorney Wilson also represented two of Connecticut’s major healthcare systems in the defense of employment law claims, breach of contract litigation, and disputes with public utilities.
